What's Ford Teasing In These "June 1, 2022" Cryptic Messages And Mustang Logo Change? | Carscoops

The Ford social media accounts are releasing clues to a puzzle that will be solved on June 1. Although the posts are rather cryptic, they may be pointing in the direction of an upcoming new model.

On its Instagram and Facebook accounts, the blue oval’s social media team has posted a video of the date 6.1.2022 on a flapping sheet of material with what appears to be a carbon fiber weave. We hardly need to point out that the use of carbon fiber almost always points towards high-performance vehicles.

To its Twitter account, meanwhile, it has posted the same date, as well as a tweet pointing to its “favorite emojis lately.” The automaker then posted a circle, a pawn, a square, a hole, a spade, a pair of sunglasses, and an X. Do take a shot at cracking that cipher in the comments.

The third important piece of information here is that, again on Instagram, the automaker changed its user image to the Mustang‘s galloping horse logo. Once again, the mention of the model is a likely sign of performance, so it makes sense in the context of the other hints.

With the launch of the next-generation 2024 Mustang not expected to take place until April 2023, it seems a little early to start a teaser campaign for that particular model. The automaker, though, has plenty of avenues to explore in terms of special editions for the much-loved sports car’s current generation.

Of course, the horse logo is no longer reserved for the coupe. There is also the all-electric Mustang Mach-e to consider. Although a pair of higher-performance variants of that already exist, the automaker could be planning another one to help build even more excitement for the SUV.

It Could Be Something Else Like The F-150 Raptor

It may also be that the decision to change the user image was purely coincidental. Ford also owes us an even higher-performance version of the F-150 Raptor, dubbed the R. Expected to borrow the Mustang Shelby GT500’s 5.2-liter Predator V8, the super truck could make as much as 760 hp. Speaking of trucks, the U.S.-spec Ranger Raptor is also on its way.

The variety of possibilities is a testament to just how cryptic Ford is being at this point, and that may have backfired a bit. Rather than engaging followers in an online easter egg hunt, commenters have mostly taken the opportunity to ask if the date listed in the teasers is when they will receive their new Bronco or other vehicle. Although Ford is by no means the only automaker that has struggled with supply, its issues seem to have distinctly frustrated its customer.

Whatever Ford is teasing (even if it’s just more teasers) you can expect to read all about it at Carscoops.com when it’s revealed on June 1.
