The 2022 GT-R Nismo Special Edition will also become the first GT-R to wear the new Nissan's digital-friendly logo.

The 2022 Nissan GT-R, with up to 600 horsepower under the hood, is a powerful sports car with tenacious-handling that earns its "Godzilla" moniker. However, Nissan will also release a Special Edition GT-R based on the 600-hp NISMO trim. The car will be sold in limited quantities, though Nissan has not stated how many will be sold in the North American market. Special Edition models will be distinguished by distinctive black-painted 20-inch wheels with red accents, a carbon-fiber hood, and a unique Stealth Gray exterior paint color.

Notably, Nissan has confirmed that orders for the extremely limited 2022 GT-R Nismo Special Edition for the North American market will open this fall. Furthermore, upon its arrival, the 2022 GT-R Nismo Special Edition will become the first GT-R to wear the new Nissan's digital-friendly logo.

Let's tell you more about this forth-coming incredible sports car from Nissan, the 2022 GT-R Nismo Special Edition.

The iconic Nissan GT-R R35 debuted as a 2009 model at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007, and it has since been updated. With the 2017 GT-R, Nissan continues to demonstrate that supercar performance can coexist with family-friendly sedans, minivans, and compact SUVs. True, the Nissan badge on the front grille lacks the gravitas of certain high-performance vehicles from Germany, Italy, or England. That's fine with fans of Nissan's beloved "Godzilla," because the GT-R is brutally fast and proudly has a muscular shape that only the mother of a gigantic, city-destroying lizard could appreciate.

For 2018, Nissan introduced a new GT-R Pure trim level with a lower starting price than the 2017 base model. For this model, the 11-speaker Bose sound system, active noise cancellation, active sound enhancement, and titanium exhaust system have been removed to reduce the price. Apple CarPlay is available on Nissan-connect with navigation, and a new black Kuro Night color is available with the Premium trim's interior package.

The 2019 GT-R has a high-performance pedigree that dates back to 1969's Skyline GT-R. Nissan is making changes to the 2020 GT-R and adding a special edition model to commemorate the car's 50th anniversary. Nissan updates its most expensive model for 2020, but falls short of the comprehensive redesign the GT-R requires. The previously available Pure model is no longer available, which means the base model's price has risen by about $14,000. To commemorate the car's history and racing pedigree, Nissan also released a 50th Anniversary edition.

For 2021, Nissan will replace the 50th Anniversary Edition model with a limited edition T-Spec trim that includes wider front fenders, gold-painted wheels, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and either Millennium Jade or Midnight Purple paint. The only other change for the 2021 model year is the addition of the Bayside Blue paint color to the Premium trim.

Nissan manages to charge six figures for a car that cost less when it was introduced a decade ago and hasn't changed much since then. Those seeking permanent seat time in the most powerful car to bear the GT-R badge, however, are unconcerned about cost. The NISMO is the most expensive version, costing more than the exotic McLaren 570 and Porsche 911 Turbo S.

According to Car & Driver, the starting price for the 2022 Nissan GT-R is $115,000. Nissan, on the other hand, hasn't released pricing for the 2022 GT-R NISMO Special Edition, but we expect it to cost slightly more than the standard NISMO's starting price of $212,535 when orders open this fall.

It's worth noting that the 2022 GT-R Nismo will only be produced in 300 units, so it's understandable that they've all been snapped up so quickly. On the other hand, the Special Edition model features clear-coated carbon fiber hood and 20-inch Rays forged aluminum wheels with a red accent. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which work together to put all that power down on the road. And like the track-focused GT-R, it's also expected to have a less than 3 second 0 to 60mph acceleration. With this, even inexperienced drivers can feel heroic behind the wheel, thanks to the GT-R's quick steering, rigid structure, and adjustable suspension.

The 2022 GT-R Nismo is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 600-hp (standard GT-Rs would produce less–565-hp) and 481 lb-ft of torque. There are no differences between the 2022 model and its predecessors, but there are mechanical changes with the GT-R Nismo's 2022 model year.

Nissan claims that its engine has a new crankshaft and flywheel, as well as new tolerances for piston rings, connecting rods, crank pulleys, and valve springs. The increased precision is accompanied by a reduction in weight, though Nissan does not specify how much they were able to shave. Regardless, tuners will almost certainly have new packages ready for the 2022 GT-R Nismo shortly after the first example arrives.

According to the EPA, each GT-R will get 16-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. The GT-front R's seats are plenty roomy, but the rear seats are only suitable for small children. The interior is nicely appointed and includes a slew of standard features, but those looking for a high-end interior like that of the Audi R8 or the Mercedes-AMG GT will be disappointed. Every model includes dual-zone climate control, leather-and-suede-covered upholstery, heated front seats, and other standard features. Interior cubby storage is limited to large door pockets and a small center-console bin.

About half of the customers who ordered the Special Edition of the 2022 GT-R Nismo chose the new Nismo Stealth Gray paint, which is cool, but those who chose other colors may benefit in the long run because they will get a different colored special edition model instead of a gray one. Naturally, all owners can wrap their cars in any color they want, giving them a unique look with the option of reverting to stock with no damage to the car's original finish. This can only be done in a reputable wrap workshop, so make sure to check their credentials before making an appointment.

Every 2022 GT-R comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that can also be controlled by a rotary knob in the center console. While Apple CarPlay, built-in navigation, and a Bose audio system are all standard, Android Auto is not. Its infotainment system is simple to use, despite its unappealing graphics and menus.
