After 18 years, Chrysler is discontinuing the large 300 sedan. Chrysler confirmed that the 300 will not be made after the 2023 model year, dealing another large blow to the large sedan segment. As one would expect, Chrysler isn’t letting the 300 die quietly. While we were hoping to see Stellantis’ Hellcat engine get shoved into the 300 as the perfect parting gift, Chrysler has introduced the limited-edition 300C that comes with a Hemi 6.4-liter V8 engine. Only 2,000 units of the 300C will be built for the U.S.

In the new 300C, the V8 is rated at a mighty 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. Chrysler claims the engine will help the sedan get to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 160 mph. This engine is a staple in the Stellantis lineup, being found in the Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, Dodge Challenger, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Chrysler also used the 6.4-liter V8 in the 300SRT from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to giving the 300C some serious firepower, Chrysler has also given the sedan some supporting upgrades to handle the power. The 300C features Brembo brakes, adaptive dampers, a limited-slip rear differential, an active exhaust system, and 20-inch wheels. The 300C’s exterior design also gets a few unique touches in the form of a rear spoiler and special badges. The interior of the 300C gets black leather upholstery with 300C logos, carbon-fiber accents, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel, as well as heated and ventilated front seats.

With a starting price tag of $56,595 with destination, the 300C isn’t cheap, as it’s approximately $5,000 more than the 300S. Shoppers can reserve a model through Chrysler’s dedicated site for the vehicle, which claims the sedan has an estimated delivery date in spring 2023.

We’re not that surprised to hear that Chrysler is discontinuing the 300. Earlier this July, reports indicated that Chrysler was working on an electric sedan to replace the 300. The replacement for the Chrysler 300 will be made in partnership with an upcoming electric sedan from Dodge. The electric replacement for the 300 is expected to be Chrysler’s second EV following the release of a production version of the Airflow Concept. The upcoming EVs from Chrysler are expected to utilize an 800-volt architecture and have up to 442 hp from three available electric motors. Range is estimated to be in the ballpark of 500 miles. The all-electric replacement for the 300 is slated to arrive by 2026.
