The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is the most powerful production muscle car ever made, but these JDM monsters will leave it in the dust.

For decades, the Dodge Challenger has been the epitome of American muscle car engineering. The Challenger was first released for 1970 and after a hiatus in 1983, production resumed in 2008. Dodge's Challenger has been in constant rivalry with other American muscle cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Though the Challenger has always been powerful, it attained a higher level of power with the introduction of the Hellcat engine. According to the Director of SRT Powertrain Development– Chris Cowland, Dodge built the Hellcat engine to make a statement. The engineers at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) built the Hellcat engine in secrecy and named it after a WWII Navy Grumman F6F fighter.

In 2015, the Hellcat was introduced in Dodge Challenger and Charger models. The 2021 Dodge Challenger model had four SRT trims with the Hellcat engine with power ranging from 717 hp to 809 hp. But despite all that power, America's most powerful muscle car still falls short when compared to these eight JDM legends.

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S was designed and inspired by the brand's racing legacy. Under the car's body panels, the NSX is made of sturdy materials. Acura made use of multiple materials and 3D-quenched high steel tubing to build this beast. The Acura NSX Type S also picked up elements like the rear diffuser from the GT3 Evo.

Most importantly, the 2022 Acura NSX Type S is a hybrid sports car. The hybrid uses a twin-turbocharged V6 and three electric motors. Acura's engineering team used advanced airflow management to enhance the sports car's aerodynamics. The Nissan NSX Type S boasts 600 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds. That's quicker than the 3.6 second 0-60 of the 2022 Dodge Challenger.

Like many other Japanese cars from the early 2000s, the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec is exquisite. However, the 2002 model was the last production model before the sports car was discontinued. For the 2002 model year, only 1,000 units of the Nissan Skyline GT-R were produced, so the car is on the rare side. While the Skyline shares some design similarities with other GT-R models from Nissan, the V-Spec model has differences. Unlike other trims, the GT-R V-Spec has more air intakes and features more details.

For performance, the GT-R V-Spec is fitted with Brembo brakes and an active limited-slip differential. To reduce weight, the car's hood was made with carbon fiber. In line with the Gentleman's Agreement, Nissan claims the 2002 GT-R V-Spec has 276 horsepower, but its true power output was closer to 320 hp. And though the V-Spec would struggle against the Hellcat in a straight line, the AWD sports car could easily outmaneuver it on the racetrack.

The Nissan GTR base model is an AWD car with a 3.8-liter V6 that churns out 565 horsepower. For transmission, the GTR's engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic system. Since the GTR has active sound cancellation, the cabin is quiet. Specially crafted for the tracks, the GTR Nismo comes with an exclusive stealth gray exterior paint.

The engines in the Nismo models have red plates and are specially crafted by Master craftsmen known as ''Takumi''. Nissan built the sports car with a well-balanced weight and rigid structure. Pairing its 600-horsepower engine with stellar ride dynamics, the 2022 GTR Nismo does the 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 195 mph.

Everything about the 2021 Lexus RC-F screams track-tuned. With a starting price of $66,945, the sports car has features that make it a tough competitor in its class. The Lexus RC-F is fitted with a 5.0-liter V8 with 472 horsepower, and of course, the car features the large Lexus grille.

To enhance aerodynamics, the RC-F has a front bumper and a speed-activated rear wing. In 4.2 seconds, the 2021 Lexus RC-F can accelerate 0-60mph. Drivers who need more performance can get the available carbon package. With the carbon package, you'd get components like a carbon-fiber roof, front spoiler, rear diffuser, and rocker-panel splitters.

Though the Toyota Supra 3.0 shares a platform with the BMW Z4, both cars are far from the same. For the interior, Toyota went with a sleek luxury design, and also managed to give it a race car look due to its simplicity. Every Toyota Supra trim uses an 8-speed automatic transmission system.

The Toyota Supra 3.0 has a Qi-compatible wireless charging tray and though Apple CarPlay is standard, Android Auto is not an option. Under the hood, the sports car is fitted with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine that delivers 382 horsepower, 368 lb-ft of torque, and an acceleration rate of 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds.

In 2005, Lexus presented their first LFA Nürburgring Edition prototype. They unveiled other prototypes in 2007 and 2008. A few years later, in 2010, they released the first production units of the supercar. Unlike most cars from Lexus, the LFA Nürburgring Edition has a small and reserved grille design. In 2012, the manufacturer made a reiteration of the original LFA Nürburgring Edition.

For the 2012 model, Lexus made corrections and gave the car more power. The supercar uses a V10 engine with 563 horsepower, 352 lb-ft of torque, and has a top speed of 202mph. In addition to its power, the LFA Nürburgring Edition is agile on the road. The car can complete a Nürburgring lap in 7 minutes and accelerate 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds.

To commemorate Mitsubishi's 40th anniversary in the UK, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X FQ440 was designed. The automaker built and released a limited number of 40 units. For power, the Lancer Evo X FQ440 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

As a result, the sports car has 440 horsepower, a top speed of 155mph, and an acceleration to 60 mph of 3.8 seconds. The Lancer Evo X FQ440 is fitted with a 6-speed twin-clutch sports shift transmission system.

After releasing the R390 GTI, Nissan decided to build the road-going version of the car. Using already existing parts from other Nissan models, the R390 was built. For example, the headlights were sourced from the Nissan 300ZX. After building the sports car in 1998, Nissan set the price at $1 million.

However, they never marketed the R390. The Nissan R390 is probably the rarest supercar from the '90s because only one model was produced. Today, the R390 is exhibited at Nissan's global headquarters in Japan. For power, the car is fitted with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 550 horsepower and accelerates 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.
