The Genesis G70 will probably be a lot cheaper and might even have more features.
We all know Genesis is a luxury automobile manufacturer which is a sub-brand of the South Korean automobile manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Group. Though it shares a close bond with the Kia Stinger, Genesis is releasing their new luxury sports sedan, the G70 in next year. What most people don't know though, is that the G70 is an amazing sports sedan and can even compete with competitors like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, and Mercedes Benz C-Class.
The G70 offers various advantages to drivers such as a posh cabin, perfectly crafted interior, aggressive chassis, economical price, and fun driving experience, which makes it unique from the rest of its competitors. Let’s dive in deeper to know more about the Genesis G70.

The 2022 Genesis G70 has an exterior that we have seen for many years in sports sedans. It shares the same design aesthetics as its siblings like GV80 Crossover SUV, G90, and G80 sedans. Though it’s quite similar, the new tail-end styling and chain-mail mesh grille give it a bold and sportier look compared to the old G70. The front fenders are designed to give a sculptural look and the chamfer near the side door just lies right behind the front wheels.
But, the G70 falls short in comparison with BMW 3 Series in terms of design as the BMW feels more premium. This might seem obvious though. The BMW has a compact and classic look with a three-box design, and has not compromised at all and used high-end materials like authentic wooden trim, and polished aluminum.
The G70 comes in two different engines. The base G70 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that blazes 252 horsepower along with the eight-speed automatic transmission. This base model falls on the average side while riding on the streets. However, the high-end model features a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 model which is capable of producing a raging 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft torque. This powerful engine goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds which gives a tough fight to other sports sedans.
In our testing, the G70 proved to be a balanced and smooth-handling car due to its suspension which makes it easier to ride on bumpy roads. Also, switching between the driving modes is buttery smooth, and G70 does a good job in giving a pleasant experience to drivers.
On the other hand, the base model 3 Series features a powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a blasting 255 horsepower, and some of the higher-spec 3 Series models can accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 3.8 seconds. Additionally, the four-cylinder Bimmer is the special attraction of this sedan, which performs far better compared to the G70 and other sports sedans. The 3 Series is still the best performance sports sedan in this segment, but the G70 ain't no slouch either.
The G70 has excellent build quality and premium materials which is bliss to drivers. The handmade and crafted design is soothing along with its easy-to-use controls and driver-centric layout, which definitely appeals to car enthusiasts.
The G70 avoids using a flat-bottom steering wheel and plaster faux carbon fiber pieces that make it inexpensive. The result is a classy sports sedan that overtakes Jaguar XE and Alfa Romeo Giulia in the interior aspect. There is also plenty of space for luggage.

Moreover, it has a cool infotainment system that complements the 10.3-inch touch screen display. It can accomplish various tasks with the help of Maps, Android Auto Capability, Apple CarPlay, and more. Though it is highly functional, its complete features aren’t revealed yet and we’ll have to wait until the official announcement of the release.
Nevertheless, the BMW’s excellent build quality and attractive materials provide a luxury experience to the drivers and it doesn’t feel cheap at all. Everything is placed well and its well-crafted seats are supportive. The 3 Series does struggle when it comes to boot space though. Apart from this, extra features like ambient lighting, head-up display, remote start, and wireless charging make the 3 Series interior unique and top-notch.
The G70 is equipped with various safety features and driver-assist technologies like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automated emergency brake, stop-and-go technology, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and more. Genesis took extreme care and made sure that the driver must feel safe and protected while driving the G70. Moreover, it also won the Top Safety Pick Award and IIHS approved it as one of the safest cars.
The G70 has a clear edge over the 3 Series in terms of safety as the German only offers two standard driver-assist technology features like automated emergency braking system and forward collision. Additionally, it includes some other features such as rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
Comparing the G70 and BMW 3 Series, the BMW is luxurious and expensive, which delivers a stellar performance. The G70’s performance might not be as engaging as some of the top variants of the 3 Series. However, the Genesis G70 justifies its luxury sports sedan title and can be a strong rival to the BMW 3 Series.
