The street-legal KTM X-Bow GT-XR is just around the corner, but a company that is heavily involved in its development is preparing its own version: the Kiska APG-1. The carbon-bodied vehicle was teased on Instagram by design boss Alan Derosier, flaunting its Marcello Gandini-inspired silhouette and track-focused underpinnings.

Kiska’s lead designer, Alan Derosier, is known for projects like the Marc Philipp Gemballa Marsien which was inspired by the Porsche 959 and the Legende Automobiles R5 Turbo restomod hot hatch. His new project could be seen as a modern homage to one of the greatest works of Marcello Gandini, the Lancia Stratos.

The teaser shots are quite revealing, as they show the vehicle from multiple angles. It is obvious that the APG-1 features a mid-engined layout, so it is safe to assume that the carbon-fiber monocoque, the push-rod suspension, and the ABT-tuned Audi RS3-sourced 2.5-liter engine are shared with the KTM X-Bow GTX. The same applies to the cool-looking canopy, with its wraparound look making a clear Lancia Stratos reference.

Besides the proportions, other design cues inspired by the Italian model include the pop-up headlights, the flat bonnet with pronounced fenders, the retro-flavored wheels, the rear spoiler that is wrapped around the engine cover, and the integrated wing at the back. The tail has a hint of the Ford GT hypercar due to the high-mounted dual exhaust pipes and the holes next to the square-shaped LED taillights.

Interestingly, Kiska didn’t only make a single prototype, as a second life-sized vehicle can be seen in the background. This makes us believe we are talking about a limited-production special instead of a one-off concept car.
