As one of BMW's most expensive models, this 2023 BMW M8 Competition Grand Coupe really is the ultimate grand tourer according to The Fast Lane Car.

The BMW M8 Competition Coupe has been getting attention in the automotive media lately, so it's only fair that the M8 Competition Gran Coupe gets equal billing. YouTube channel The Fast Lane Car takes just such an approach as it heads to the Nürburgring to check out the latest edition of BMW's grand tourer.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see the sleek four-door on the Ring, but a quick tour of the six-figure car offers some insights.

It's hard to miss the striking Isle of Man Green on the Gran Coupe's exterior as it dominates the screen in the video's opening minutes. The car is also slathered in carbon fiber, further emphasizing the M8's slot in BMW's pecking order.

Supplementing the gleaming exterior is the BMW M 50th anniversary hood ornament badge; it's got a red accent to go along with the usual blue and white roundel. The presenters comment on a preference for the four-door Gran Coupe over the two-door Coupe.

During a brief time behind the wheel, the presenters debate if the aggressive-looking interior and its abundance of carbon fiber is a match for the grand tourer nature of the car. There's some further critique of the cabin, as the center stack is starting to look dated compared to the latest BMWs.

But the M8 Competition Gran Coupe shines when it comes to driving; the duo complements the car's laser focus on performance. "That power is nuts" is one remark. Another adds, "This is one of the best out there," when talking about grand tourers on the market.

Pricing for a U.S.-version of the 2023 M8 Competition Gran Coupe starts at $130,000. For that, a buyer gets a stylish four-door grand tourer with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8. BMW promises that the 617-horsepower engine moves the car from zero to 60 mph flat in three seconds. The standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission only help.

Tick all the boxes, including adding BMW's Frozen (matte-finish) paint, the carbon-fiber exterior package, and the M Carbon bucket seats, push the total north of $160,000. The carbon-ceramic brake upgrade makes up $8,100 of this amount.
