Mercedes’ flagship electric vehicle, EQS 450+, tuned by Brabus, became the most drag coefficient vehicle with a CD value of 0.18.

The vehicle received an aerodynamic body kit — perfected in the wind tunnel — to make the zero-emissions sedan even sleeker.

With a Cd of 0.20, it already had the lowest drag coefficient among production cars, and Brabus’ design lowered the electric vehicle’s CD value by 7.2, compared to its already low drag coefficient of 0.20, with an even more streamlined shape.

Brabus is a German high-performance automotive aftermarket tuning company specializing in Mercedes-Benz, Smart, and Maybach vehicles. The company tuned 2 Porsches and even a Rolls-Royce in 2022.

Now the company is expanding into electric vehicles, after cars and boats.

The EQS 450+ is designed with an exposed Brabus carbon exterior concept and a “Signature Black” finish.

The new Brabus EQS, based on an EQS450+, doesn’t receive additional power by the tune-up; its rear electric motor still provides 333 PS (329 hp or 245 kW) and 568 Nm of torque.

Brabus has adapted the current design to fit their 20- or 22-inch size wheels, providing a more aggressive stance to match the outlandish rims and subtle body tweaks.

Tweaks to the vehicle’s air suspension have brought the EQS 450+ closer to the road by 0.6 inches (15 mm) at the front and 0.8 inches (20 mm) at the rear.

The lowered suspension also helps the vehicle to perform better around corners.

The Brabus tuned EQS features unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, carbon fiber inserts, and special rims.

On the sides of the electric vehicle, air deflectors are placed before the rear arches and merge into the side skirt. The prominent diffuser and spoiler also help aerodynamic lift at the rear by up to 40 percent.

The aero optimizations contribute to a boost of 7.2 percent compared to its standard counterpart when the vehicle is traveling at speeds between 62 to 87 mph (100 to 140 kph).

The EQS 450+ has a 120 kWh battery pack and an EPA range of 350 miles (563 km), but with the Brabus tune, it should theoretically achieve 520 miles (840 km) on a full charge.

Other modifications involve the suspension, Brabus’ plug-and-play SportXtra module for air suspension system interface.

All the additions to the luxury vehicle are made from lightweight carbon, finished in either gloss or matte.
